eSewa Hackathon 2026 to Be Held in Sauraha

Kathmandu :  eSewa, Nepal’s leading digital payment service provider, is going to organize the “eSewa Hackathon 2026” from Jestha 15 to 17 in Sauraha, Chitwan. The event is being held in collaboration with the international conservation organization World Wildlife Fund (WWF), which works in wildlife and environmental protection.

For the past 17 years eSewa has been working to make digital payments easier, safer, and more accessible in Nepal. Along with its regular services, the company has also been involved in innovation, youth-focused programs, and social responsibility initiatives.

Through this hackathon, eSewa aims to bring young people together to share ideas, build digital solutions, and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship in the tech sector. A total of 20 teams with 63 participants selected from across the country will take part in the competition.

While sharing information about the hackathon, eSewa Chief Executive Officer Jagdish Khadka expressed his belief that the hackathon will be effective in developing problem-solving thinking among youth, building technology-friendly solutions, and contributing to sustainable development.

“The eSewa Hackathon will bring developers, designers, and innovators together on a single platform to create effective solutions related to digital system development, cybersecurity, and environmental sustainability,” said Khadka. “We believe that initiatives like this not only encourage innovative thinking and creativity among young people, but also play an important role in building a secure fintech ecosystem and supporting environmental conservation.”

Hackathon participants will present fintech designs and solution prototypes that can be implemented in real-world use. The event is expected to encourage innovation and support the development of digital systems with positive social and environmental impact.

Throughout the hackathon, teams will receive direct mentorship and guidance from leaders in fintech, cybersecurity, and information technology, helping them further refine their ideas and build effective solutions.

At the end of the three-day residential competition, teams presenting the best solutions and prototypes will receive attractive cash prizes. According to eSewa, the winning team will receive NPR 300,000, while the second and third-place teams will receive NPR 200,000 and NPR 100,000 respectively.
