The response from Butwal was overwhelming. Registrations had to be closed at 76 participants as riders from across the region rushed to claim a spot on the grid. The turnout confirmed that Butwal has a deep, growing passion for motorsport and a pool of talent ready to be discovered.

Trained by Champions

Participants trained under two of Nepal's most accomplished racers:

  • Mr. Sujan Thapa Magar, former ARE GP Nepal winner and a winner at the Madras International Circuit
  • Ms. Nawang Moktan, four-time national champion in track and tarmac racing

The day began with detailed theory sessions on riding posture, cornering technique, leaning, braking and vision control. Riders then put those lessons into practice through intensive on-track drills under the instructors' guidance, sharpening their control, confidence and race craft.

The training built up to the main event: a competitive race in the 160cc category. Riders pushed hard for a top-three finish, the only route to the ARE GP Grand Finale.

Butwal's Finalists: 160cc Category

  • Winner: Dhiraj B.K. (34.07 sec)
  • 1st Runner-up: Abhishek Panthi (34.62 sec)
  • 2nd Runner-up: Arik Shrestha (34.87 sec)

These three riders will represent Butwal at the ARE GP Grand Finale. There they will compete against the top qualifiers from Kathmandu, Nepalgunj, Itahari and Pokhara.

Celebration on Stage

The ARE GP Butwal Qualifiers closed with a certificate ceremony for all participants, recognizing every rider who took to the track. The winners were then announced and felicitated on stage, cheered on by fellow riders, families and fans.

"The response we saw from Butwal today has been truly overwhelming. Closing registrations at 76 tells us how much passion for motorsport exists in this region. Many of these riders had never been on a track before, and today they trained with national champions and raced like professionals. We are proud to bring ARE GP to Butwal with Jagdamba Motors and TVS. We hope our three finalists make the whole region proud at the Grand Finale and beyond."

From Butwal to the World Stage

The stakes at the Grand Finale go well beyond the podium. The first-place winners in the 160cc and 200cc categories will represent Nepal in international racing at the Madras International Circuit in India. They will face riders from more than 50 countries. Riders who succeed there will earn the chance to progress to further international racing in their category. All travel and accommodation will be covered by Jagdamba Motors (TVS Nepal) and TVS Motor Company, India.

Jagdamba Motors: Building Nepal's Motorsport Culture

ARE GP is one part of a wider effort by Jagdamba Motors to build a real motorsport culture in Nepal. The goal is to give budding racers, enthusiasts and amateur riders a clear, structured path from their first time on a track to international competition. That effort includes:

  • The Apache Race Experience (ARE): A year-long program with three stages:
    • Apache Track Experience: 7–8 open training sessions at the Vehicle Research and Training Center, Satungal, where anyone can learn proper riding technique and track skills.
    • Apache Racing Qualifiers: Five regional qualifiers in Kathmandu, Butwal, Nepalgunj, Itahari and Pokhara.
    • ARE GP Grand Finale: The national showdown that sends Nepal's best to the international stage.
  • An international pathway: With the support of Jagdamba Motors Pvt. Ltd. and TVS Motor Company India for Nepali racers in the TVS One Make Championship, Nepal's best riders get real exposure on international circuits. Sujan Thapa Magar's win at the Madras International Circuit shows what that pathway can achieve.

Together, these efforts are building a wider base of trained, safety-conscious riders and making competitive racing open to anyone with the passion for it.
